Neil Armstrong PTO Committee Sign Up As the 2009-2010 school year kicks off, the PTO Executive Board is asking for volunteers for our various committees. You will find that involvement at Neil Armstrong is rewarding and that your participation contributes to keeping our school an active and vibrant one. Whether you have the time to chair a committee or only have an hour to give, we ask that you join us. Because it is only in us all working together that we can be successful. We ask that you take a serious look at the committees listed and consider chairing or simply joining a committee. We are asking for a 5^th and a 6^th grade chair for each committee, so if you’d like to chair a committee please mark that. Sign up as soon as possible! Battle of the Books Teams consisting of 6 students and 1 adult manager, meet weekly to discuss and review previously chosen books. Teams then compete at the Battle of the Books night. This activity runs from November through late February. Big G Box Tops Collect of General Mills Box Tops for redemption Bingo Game night held twice throughout the year on a Friday night Book Fair Fundraiser held solely for the benefit of the NAMS library—in the spring Campbell Labels Collect and redeem various Campbell’s labels Chinese Auction Coordinate the collection of items and assemble baskets for the Charity Carnival in December Coupon Books Collect returned books, and tabulate and fill book orders for the fall fundraiser General Volunteers Volunteers who help out where needed Landscaping Maintain the landscaped area in front of the school Membership Aid chair in increasing membership, collect and tabulate membership dues 5^th Grade Fun Day Fifth grade parents organize games, activities and refreshments for a fun day at the end of the year Frozen Food Sale Help tabulate and distribute orders- late fall Popcorn Make and sell popcorn during lunch periods. A big hit with the kids! Red Ribbon Week Design activities that deal with drug awareness—October 6^th Grade Fun Day Sixth grade parents organize a special day of activities for the 6^th graders— at the end of the year Skating Parties Ice skating parties are organized during non-school hours—fall and winter Staff Appreciation Purchase holiday gifts for the office staff, plan spring luncheon School Store Stock and sell school supplies and fun items to the students during the lunch periods. School store is every other Friday, except for the first few weeks of school and during December for the Holiday Sale (every Friday).
