Then the NAMS PTO has an activity for you! Battle of the Books is a team competition. The NAMS students form teams of up to 6 students. Each team has an adult Team Manager to help the students review the books and prepare for the competition. All teams are given the same five books to read. At the February 24, 2012 competition, the teams are asked 50 trivia questions related to the set of books. All teams write their answer and submit it to the judges. 0 to 5 points are awarded for the correctness of each answer. The teams with the most points are the winners! There are two optional activities in which teams can participate. There is a poster competition and a costume competition. Separate prizes are awarded for these two additional competitions. Sign ups for Battle of the Books are in October. Mrs. Walko, the NAMS Librarian, is visiting all the classrooms to discuss Battle of the Books. Team Forms and Permission slips are available in the NAMS Library from Mrs. Walko. All forms should be returned by Oct. 26 to Mrs. Walko. All team members and their parents are encouraged to attend a short informational meeting on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 7:00pm in the NAMS Cafeteria.
